Alex’s Lemonade Stand with Creative Financial Group

What was the event, and how did FBASC get involved?
In partnership with Creative Financial Group (CFG), Father Bill Atkinson Service Corps hosted an Alex’s Lemonade Stand at CFG’s site in Newtown Square on April 4. We are family friends with the Maguire/Naselli/Schweiter Family, who are very involved with CFG. The purpose of the event was to raise awareness and funds for childhood cancer.
CFG supplied lemonade, cups, napkins, balloons and more, while the FBASC team created signs and served the lemonade with smiles and interacted with community members. CFG also promoted the event in their internal newsletter to raise awareness and funds.
Together, the group raised over $700.00 for the ALSF.
Why is this event important and how will it contribute to the community?
This event was hopefully one of many to raise awareness to find a cure for childhood cancer. FBASC hopes to hold another lemonade stand outside of Miss Sheila’s From the Top Studio of Dance in the late spring. Alex Scott, from Wynnewood, passed away in 2004 from cancer. Before her passing, Alex was a girl on a mission to help all kids with cancer. Her website is full of information about how someone could get involved by hosting an event or simply donating. This was not Muffy’s first time being part of an Alex’s Lemonade Stand! Also, CFG would like to continue to partner with FBASC in community events.
What was your favorite part of the day?
When I asked Muf what her favorite part of the day was she told me she loved being at Creative Financial (I think she just loves the field trips with her Fr. Bill friends and seeing other friends). Muf loved hanging with Quinn Maguire, who works at CFG, as well as talking to all the employees when they came in to get their lemonade, whether she knew them or not. Muf would love to do another lemonade stand and from the smiles from the rest of the Corps, I think they would all agree!
How can people get involved?
People can get involved by clicking the link to get to Alex’s website. There you can find many ways to be a part of something so important. Fighting childhood cancer and keeping Alex’s memory and mission alive!
